Coming Home to Ourselves in Midlife: The Work of Shannon A Swales
At the heart of my business isn’t a product or a brand—it’s me, Shannon A Swales.
I’m a psychologist, writer, and midlife woman who knows firsthand how exhausting it can be to
hold it all together. My work supports midlife women navigating chronic stress, burnout, and
overwhelm—women who are often deeply capable, yet quietly depleted. Women who’ve reached a
point where something needs to shift.
My practice centres around helping these women come home to themselves. Not to who they used
to be, but to who they are now—beneath the expectations, responsibilities, and roles they’ve carried
for decades.
What I Offer
- 1:1 Therapy (Telehealth, Australia-wide) – Through Burnout Psychology Support, I offer
online therapy to women looking for a safe, compassionate space to explore what’s really going on
—and to find clarity, relief, and a path forward. - Midlife Reclaimed Community – This is where my heart truly lives. Midlife Reclaimed is an
online support space for women craving connection without pressure. It’s gentle, nurturing, and
real. Weekly support circles, reflective resources, and meaningful conversation create a sense of
belonging that so many midlife women quietly long for. - Midlife Reclaimed Podcast – On the podcast, I share real talk on burnout, boundaries, identity,
and self-worth—along with expert guests who bring fresh insight into everything from menopause
to intimacy. At its core, the podcast is about reclaiming parts of ourselves that got lost along the
way. - Writing, Speaking & Workshops I speak regularly at events and share written reflections
through my blog and book Nothing Left to Give: A Psychologist’s Path Back from Burnout. Whether
I’m on a stage or on a page, my goal is to honour the complexity of midlife—and the quiet power of
telling the truth.
Why This Work Matters
The thread running through everything I do is this: connection, wisdom, compassion, and
authenticity. Because I believe it’s through the power of storytelling—in compassionate
environments—that we find our way back to ourselves. And when we feel seen, supported, and less
alone, something begins to soften. To heal. To shift.
Whether you’re in crisis or simply curious about how to live with more ease and self-trust in the
second half of life, you’re welcome in my world.
