Meet Kym from Sparkling Soul Yoga.
Sparkling Soul Yoga was created from a deep belief that wellbeing should feel supportive, accessible, and sustainable – especially in a world where so many people are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected from themselves. Rather than being another thing to “keep up with,” wellbeing should feel like something that gently supports us through all seasons of life.
I’m a yoga teacher and exercise physiologist, and I founded Sparkling Soul Yoga to bridge the gap between traditional exercise, mental health support, and real-life wellbeing. My work is grounded in the understanding that health is not just physical – it’s emotional, mental, and deeply influenced by how safe, supported, and connected we feel in our bodies and lives.
Over the years, I’ve seen how stress, burnout, hormonal changes, and constant pressure canslowly erode a person’s sense of vitality. Many of the women I work with are capable, caring, and resilient – yet they’re often running on empty. Sparkling Soul Yoga exists to gently guide people back to themselves, offering practices that nourish rather than deplete, and that honour where they are rather than where they think they “should” be.
A Different Approach to Yoga
Sparkling Soul Yoga is not about perfect poses or pushing through discomfort. It’s about tuning in, slowing down, and learning to listen to the body with compassion.
My background in exercise physiology allows me to create classes that are safe, evidence-informed, and adaptable, while my training in mental health–informed and trauma-aware yoga ensures that emotional safety is always prioritised.
I teach a wide range of yoga styles including vinyasa, yin, chair yoga, yoga for menopause, restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, and yoga for mental health and trauma recovery. Each style is offered with the same intention: to support the nervous system, build strength and resilience,
and help people feel more at home in their bodies – supporting women through every stage of life.
Classes are designed for real people with real lives – people who may be tired, sore, stressed, anxious, or navigating significant life transitions. Yoga becomes a tool for self-care and self-awareness, not another item on an already overflowing to-do list.
The Heart Behind the Business.
The inspiration for Sparkling Soul Yoga came from witnessing how many people felt disconnected from their bodies and overwhelmed by life’s demands. In both my professional work and personal experiences, I saw the need for a gentler, more inclusive approach to health – one that didn’t rely on willpower, hustle, or perfection, but on kindness, consistency, and support.
What drives my passion is seeing small, meaningful changes: clients sleeping better, feeling calmer, setting healthier boundaries, or simply giving themselves permission to rest. These shifts may seem subtle, but they create powerful ripple effects that extend into relationships, work, and overall quality of life.
Yoga, when taught with care, can be a powerful preventative health strategy. It helps regulate the nervous system, reduces stress, improves mobility and strength, and fosters self-awareness. More importantly, it reminds people that they don’t need to be “fixed”- they are already enough.
Yoga as a Lifelong Health Companion: A Science-Informed Perspective
As both a yoga teacher and an exercise physiologist, one of my strongest beliefs is that yoga is not just a short-term practice -it’s a lifelong companion. From early childhood through to later life, yoga offers evidence-based benefits that support physical health, mental wellbeing, and emotional resilience. Its adaptability is what makes it so powerful: yoga meets us exactly where we are, at every stage of life.
From a scientific perspective, yoga supports multiple body systems simultaneously. It improves mobility, strength, balance, and posture while also regulating the nervous system, reducing chronic stress, and supporting hormonal and emotional health. For women in particular – who experience significant physiological transitions across the lifespan – yoga offers a sustainable, empowering form of care.
Who I Work With
I primarily support women, particularly those over 40, who are juggling work, family, health changes, and the invisible mental load that so many carry. Many are experiencing stress, burnout, anxiety, or the effects of long-term overwhelm. Others are navigating menopause or rediscovering their relationship with movement after years of prioritising everyone else.
I love working with this community because they are often incredibly generous with their energy -yet rarely extend that same care to themselves. Supporting them to slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and rebuild trust in themselves is deeply meaningful work.
Programs, Classes, and Events
Sparkling Soul Yoga offers a range of classes, workshops, retreats, and programs designed to meet people where they are. I teach regular yoga classes across community spaces, including outdoor sessions at Hardcastle Park in Hawthorne, gyms such as Fernwood Carindale and Clem Jones Carina, as well as within the corporate space. Classes range from gentle yoga to yin and mindful flows, always with options to rest, modify, or pause.
I also run retreats and masterclasses. Release | Reflect | Renew is a day retreat held on 1 February, offering participants the opportunity to step away from the city, soothe the nervous system through mindful movement, enjoy nourishing food, and experience a deeply restorative sound healing session. Reset and Rise is a two-hour masterclass focused on stress and overwhelm, providing practical tools for nervous system regulation and everyday wellbeing.
Online, I offer accessible yoga practices through YouTube, including short flows and challenges that support consistency without pressure. Everything I offer is rooted in the belief that wellbeing should feel achievable, supportive, and empowering.
A Gentle Reminder
If there’s one message I hope people take away from Sparkling Soul Yoga, it’s this: you don’t need to do everything at once to create change. Small, consistent steps—taken with kindness – are enough.
Your wellbeing matters. Rest is productive. Support is strength. And you are not meant to do life alone.
Sparkling Soul Yoga is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and remember that caring for yourself is not selfish – it’s essential.
